The New Lover

The New Lover

It’s that sense of

rediscovery

of senses long

forgotten, tossed

to the harsh wind.

It’s remembrance

that you are still

beautiful, that

you inspire

deep desire.

It’s the body

remembering

that nerves can feel

more than old aches,

more than old pain.

It’s secret smiles.

It’s a gentle

kiss on the lips,

curling of toes,

a warm embrace.

Sometimes scary,

but just because

you’d forgotten

what it’s like to

be so adored.

Mostly thrilling,

only because

you’d forgotten

what it’s like to

be so adored.
