High Heels

I have a lot of guy friends who think high heels aren’t attractive, that all they do is make women walk funny and make us look stupid. I beg to differ, though.

I can tell you, as a woman, that shoes make me happy. Specifically, my shoes make me happy. And then maybe you’d just roll your eyes and mutter, “Gawd, Kari, you’re such a chick.” And you might be right. But even so, there’s something about wearing a fabulous pair of pumps that just plain lifts my spirits.

Like, for instance, the fact that most men can’t pull off heels. Their feet and calves aren’t built to balance like that.

Or, for example, the fact that my calves are so strong that I can full-out sprint in my high heels.

And, of course, they’re just pretty and they make me feel pretty.

Did you know that male ballet dancers can’t do point shoes? Again, their anatomy isn’t right for that. Women, however, are phenomenal at it. Yes, over time it can wear our feet and legs out, but the fact of the matter is we can do it, and men can’t. That’s why when you’re at the ballet (whether you’re there because you’re happily watching the dancers or begrudgingly there so your girlfriend will put out later), you’ll only ever see women on their toes.

Sometimes when I wear a particularly high pair of heels, I feel like I’m doing a balancing act. It takes a lot of concentration and grace to stay up so high all day long, and I always pull it off. Something about the idea of men having a hard time with this always makes me smile.

My feet are incredibly flexible, my calves are rock hard, and I can essentially run on the tip of a pin. Why would anyone call that silly or dumb? Boys, I think you’re just jealous. You know you wanna run in these:

Is it that male ballet dancers can’t do point shoe or won’t do point shoes? ’cause I was watching “So you think you can dance” a few seasons back and a male ballet dancer used point shoes an’ Nigel said it was “too feminine” which I thought was A. Hot bulllshit and B. really rude. Men can totes use heels if they train themselves/alter their sense of balance. In short; gender is irrelevant and comfy heels are *the best.*

It has more to do with the structure of their feet, though I suppose, with determination and practice, a guy could train himself to do it. — Sent from my HP VeerOn Dec 19, 2011 3:09 AM,
