Grown-up Stuff

So tonight we dropped off the first batch of boxes and art and stuff for Bear’s and my new apartment, and I’m suddenly ridiculously excited. I had several realizations tonight:

1. I’m actually moving into a community. There were tons of people out in the complex tonight–kids riding bikes and scooters, people hanging out in the pool and hot tub, people visiting on their porches–and they all seemed happy and very much part of a community.

2. My blood sugar dropped suddenly, and I had to eat something before I fainted. We’d dropped off some snack food and apples and stuff yesterday, so I was well-equipped for just such an event. I started cutting my apple, thinking it would’ve been great if I could use a plate, when it suddenly occurred to me that THIS IS MY FREAKING HOME NOW, SO I CAN USE WHATEVER PLATES I WANT AND NO ONE CAN STOP ME! FURTHERMORE, I CAN ALSO DO WHATEVER THE HELL I WANT! YES!

3. So I sat on the floor in Bear’s new room while my dad put his bed together and ate my apple and snacky food, and it dawned upon me that it was really homey in there. And after I finished my snack, I wandered into what will be my new room, and I thought, “Damn, it’s nice and homey in here, too! Fuckin’ sweet!”

4. I kind of can’t wait until Saturday. I think I’ll get up at 5 am and have a party here one last time before I officially have my own place.

5. Also, on an unrelated topic, I STILL love gemstones and gemology. I finished the section in my course on corundum today (rubies and sapphires, for those who don’t know the mineral terms), and it left me ridiculously excited about life all over again…. ‘Cause I learned things, and they were interesting and exciting. 🙂

Just wait until you’ve been there, say, a month or two. You will really like it then, once you’ve got everything all perfect, just where and how you like it. And when you can cook a meal for your friends and entertain them there, that’s great fun! You’re going to have a very exciting fall. I’m going to enjoy it vicariously with you. =)

    Love you, baby!
