Kevin

He dances by himself, his arms around

an invisible woman he’s only

ever loved in his mind. He’s waltzing to

hip-hop, and the floor is his, because all

the other boys and girls are on the sides

giggling. Poor Kevin—must suck to live

with Asperger’s. But Bianca’s standing

by. Slowly, she approaches: “Dance with me?”

Her voice is soft, and she fits perfectly

in his outstretched arms, becoming his dream

woman. She lets him lead, and they dance

in an oddly beautiful manner. I smile

as I watch. A whole world was changed with one

request that Kevin will always remember.
