Valkyrie, Pt. 1

“I’m not leaving without you this time,” she said as she raised her sword.

“My, my. Aren’t we persistent? Sister, I have no plans to go with you. Please lower your weapon before something awful happens.”

She sighed and lowered her shield, though she still held her sword at the ready. “You are coming with me if it’s the last thing I do.”

He was sick—possessed and sick. The ice demons had invaded his body, and what little of his spirit remained was dependent on them for survival. She knew he’d put up a fight—he always had in the past, and he would until he could struggle no more.

“Bror, du må returnere hjem med mig,” she whispered. “You are dying.”

“Yes, and you are an angel of death, ergo, I should not go with you. How can I trust you to not just leave me in the otherworld? Hmmm?”

She grimaced as one of the demons squeezed his hand in what she could only guess was reassurance. Its scaly fingers grasped at his frail wrist, and he turned to it and smiled. “Ikke frykte. Jeg vil ikke la deg,” he murmured to it.

            “I will never leave you.”

“Never? Look at where we are! You left me here, didn’t you? It’s been years, Sister. I rather like it here.”

She raised her shield again and lowered her stance. “I will fight for you this time. You belong in Valhalla, not here. Please, just come with me.”

The demon clutching his hand fixed its steely gaze on her and rose from her brother’s side. It laughed as it picked up its axe and shrieked, “Valkyrje, jeg vil ende du!

Death does not wait, nor do his angels. The warrior maiden raised her sword over her head and charged before the demon could swing its axe.

Still tweaking the translations, so if they don’t all make tremedous sense, that’s why. 😛

Ikke frykte. Jeg vil ikke la deg = Do not fear. I will not let you.

I can’t wait to read the next installment!

I know, I saw that. It should be “leave you.” Stupid online translators and my general ignorance of the language. Grumble, grumble, grumble….
